About the Card Author

This card's oil pastel artwork and words were contributed by Grace, supporting the Recurrent Pregnancy Loss Association. Grace experienced unexplained recurrent pregnancy loss after also enduring three IVF cycles before finally conceiving her rainbow babies. She wishes on rainbows and sends love to anyone experiencing pregnancy loss.

Grace's advice for friends and family supporting someone experiencing pregnancy loss:

One in four women experience miscarriage or pregnancy loss. Even though I knew this statistic, I couldn't help blaming myself for all sorts of unreasonable reasons. I felt very alone in my grief.  It was especially painful to see other pregnancies progressing around me and babies born when mine would have been. 

Friends and family with good intentions are often in a rush to comfort by saying "You can try again!" or "Just relax and it will happen!" Please don't rush to fill their painful void with words like this. Let them know you are there for them to talk about their loss if they want, but you can also hold space for them in silence or talk about anything else if that's what they need.

In short, let them know it's ok not to be ok and that you are there for them.
